Probe Technical Recruitment are recruiting a very exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Engineering Manager to join a unique manufacturer based in Leicester. The company are experts in their field, and reporting into a Director, your role will be to lead an engineering and maintenance team to safely and cost effectively achieve the uptime and productivity targets required to grow sales and success. Flexibility is key for this role along with project management and organisation skills.

This role would suit someone who is appropriately qualified (Degree/ HND in technical Electrical / Mechanical / Engineering or tools qualified with significant experience). Also to have worked in a manufacturing environment that understands the needs of both the business targets and the long-term requirements of the equipment. An experienced Maintenance or Engineering Manager of teams who are spread across more than one large site is advantageous where health and safety is of vital importance.

The key areas of focus and duties for the Engineering Manager role include: 

  • To ensure the completion of planned preventive maintenance schedules using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (Agility). 
  • To work with the Maintenance Team Leader to support the development of effective planned preventive maintenance schedules and to analyse the data produced to identify engineering improvement projects 
  • Plant Availability to agreed targets.
  • PPM’s Completion to agreed targets and standards
  • Delivery of strategic projects to original justification, budget and timeframes
  • There are several other duties that will be discussed further at initial interview.

Key Duties

  • As a Plant Fitter, your key responsibilities will include: 
  • Using appropriate processes and techniques, you will read and interpret engineering drawings to complete manufacture and modification as requested.
  • Experience and skill of fault-finding, maintenance and repair of heavy-duty construction plant and hydraulic systems would be ideal.
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to complete tasks

Requirements of the Plant Fitter 
To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria: 

  • You must hold a full UK driving licence and a Level 2 qualification in Plant Maintenance or equivalent.
  • This is a fitter role for the rigs not the factory, so previous experience is needed in heavy plant/ construction equipment. 
  • Although this role is not a mobile fitter role, they will be expected to go out to sites to attend breakdowns and general repairs, so need to have a driving licence. 
  • Experience with JCB’s and CAT
  • Welding and fabrication

Probe Technical are looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer on an early and lates shift. This is an outstanding opportunity to join the UK subsidiary of a large multi-national company. This is a great role for someone who is hands-on, technical, and operational. As part of a top manufacturing group, you will be required to maintain plant and machinery to a high standard through PPM and proactively schedule maintenance works to maximise service levels.

Probe Technical are looking to recruit a full time and permanent Maintenance Electrician to join an experienced and dedicated Engineering team near Wellingborough on a Monday – Friday day shift with a 37.5-hour week. The ideal candidate will provide both mechanical and electrical service to the Production Department in terms of maintaining machines and site services to achieve minimal downtime as well as reduced engineering costs.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to utilise their engineering skills and join a privately owned global business. As well as being focused on continuous improvement and implementing specific products, as a Maintenance Electrician you will also be responsible for maintaining the upkeep of the buildings and grounds areas of the plant facility.

Role Purpose

The Quality Manager will manage all aspects of Quality, Quality Procedures & Business Operating Systems and to provide technical support to the business in the technical development of the Quality department and the operating equipment used to confirm quality assurance.

  • Ensuring ongoing accreditation in accordance with the business needs.
  • Develop / analyse the business through the agreed business systems.
  • Identify & implement improvement projects through robust PDCA.

Quality Manager Candidate Requirements

  • Proven Automotive industry experience.
  • The quality team is small, so you will be willing and prepared to literally be ‘hands-on’ and support the quality team when required. 
  • IATF16949 experience is essential. An HNC in Engineering would be useful.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing quality functions and implementing a quality management system.
  • Man-management skills (inc. Disciplinary, Performance monitoring, Manpower planning and recruitment).
  • Manufacturing / production experience (In-depth experience of production planning and lean manufacturing). 
  • Customer liaison / Supplier focussed. Experience with excellent analytical & practical problem-solving skills. Financial awareness.
  • Previous experience of developing efficient quality and business operating systems.


Key Responsibilities (but limited to)

  • The Quality Manager will support / devise Quality and Environmental action plans, to meet all relevant standards including IATF16949 and ISO14001 and ensuring the complete and timely introduction of appropriate measures.
  • Authoritarian with respect to decision making on customer affected quality issues.
  • Ensure departmental & company procedures are aligned with the quality standards as
  • determined by the customer and adhering to the company’s quality procedures thereby ensuring continued TS 16949 registration.
  • Develop a cross-functional teamwork approach involving all departmental disciplines.
  • Constantly monitor and analyse performance and implement continuous improvements.
  • Maximize efficiency of operations via good management, a flexible manning approach to standardised work, practical problem solving, continuous improvement and plan, do, check & act methodology with built in quality.
  • Devise and maintain a continuous training and development plan.
  • Constantly improve and develop the process to ensure an efficient operation and delivering / improving the facility with all the necessary documentation so as to achieve full utilisation of the manufacturing resource focusing on consistent process that achieves the daily production targets.
