Mechanical Design Engineer Role Overview

  • An experienced Mechanical Design Engineer is required to work within a focused Research and Development team, capable of taking the lead on your own projects whilst contributing to those of your colleagues through collaborative and cross functional working.
  • You will have proven experience of developing products from idea through to production prototype whilst fully considering design for manufacture and assembly.
  • Full project experience is a pre-requisite.

Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate Requirements and Responsibilities

  • A solid mechanical engineering background, with strong experience in the design and development of mechanical structures and mechanisms.
  • Experience of designing electrics/electronics, control systems or medical devices is advantageous but not essential.
  • Be fully conversant with all aspects of Solidworks 3D CAD.
  • Experience of developing New Products to satisfy end user needs.
  • Create product specifications, project plans and detailed designs.
  • Select the optimum materials and manufacturing methods to meet business and product needs.
  • Validate and verify designs by prototyping, testing and first batch manufacture support.

Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate Requirements

  • Ideally, minimum of 5 years experience working in mechanical engineering.
  • 3D design proficiency. Inventor would be ideal, but all 3D experience will be considered. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and their requirements from a design perspective, along with knowledge of material and parts specifications and the ability to suitably select these for the design requirements.
  • Hands-on manufacturing / assembling experience would advantageous.
  • The following would be preferred but isn’t essential: experience of pneumatic circuit design and functionality, knowledge of machinery directive, LOLER and other legislative requirements, experience in special purpose machinery, assembly fixture and jig design.
  • Experience working within the Automotive industry would again be advantageous.
  • UK driving licence.

Mechanical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the full design lifecycle of the products; this includes defining concepts and developing them into fully functioning 3D models.
  • Initial project review and scope of requirements with the project delivery team.
  • Creating fully functioning 3D CAD models of mechanical systems, special purpose machinery, assembly fixtures, production jigs, mechanical handling systems and industrial automated systems using the latest version of Autodesk Inventor Professional.
  • Creating, checking, and approving 2D manufacturing, assembly, testing and installation drawings to BS8888-2017.
  • Running and participating in design reviews in accordance with internal and customers design standards and relevant legislation.
  • Liaising between design and manufacturing to understand manufacturing constrains or requirements that need to be accounted for.
  • Working in an energetic environment you will play a key role in delivering multiple high-tech projects with a strong professional Engineering support network guiding and coaching you to excellence.

Candidate Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of all design activities from concept through to production validation.
  • The robust design of products in accordance with the department procedures. 
  • Investigating design factors such as function, materials, performance, interchangeability, cost, operational efficiency. 
  • Preparation of Project Engineering data for new product assemblies and components, e.g. 3D / 2D Drawings, BOM's, Technical Specifications.

Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate Requirements

  • HND or suitable mechanical engineering design experience. A Degree would be ideal but isn’t essential.

  • Support the conceptual development for new products.
  • Participate in maintaining relevant engineering processes and procedures.

  • Problem solving on existing products and product improvement.

Mechanical Development Engineer Candidate Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or similar would be ideal. HNC /HND will be considered, along with the right experience.
  • 3D design proficiency. Solidworks is preferred, but other 3D experience will be considered. 
  • Strong product development experience.
  • Design for Manufacture. 
  • Problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • Drafting experience. 
  • A level of calculations experience.
  • Some GD&T and simulation experience would be useful but is not essential.  

Mechanical Development Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • The Mechanical Development Engineer will lead development projects from initial concept through to full product realisation / implementation.
  • Assess and implement design change requests related to the full range of products.
  • Preparation, maintenance and revision control of 3D CAD models, drawings and BOM’s using SolidWorks CAD and PLM software. 
  • Provide assistance to other departments and suppliers to help solve technical problems during manufacture and assembly.
  • Oversee validation testing required during the design change process and summarise results in a technical report. Wide ranging support to the R&D department in the research, testing and development of products.
  • Work closely with and support other departments (Production, Production Engineering, Purchasing, Quality) and suppliers to improve existing designs with respect to manufacturability and assembly.
  • Conduct calculations to validate the structural integrity of components and assemblies using a formula based approached for simple calculations.

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to oversee the design of customer products as well as develop new innovative engineering solutions.

The Role

IT Support Technician Role Function

The IT Support Technician will support the IT team in providing a comprehensive IT service for the company to enable it to meet its company objectives and business targets.

As IT Support Technician, you’ll be responsible for supporting and maintaining the company's IT network, servers, client devices and security systems, including investigating, diagnosing and resolving network, server, client devices and software problems, collecting IT usage stats, making recommendations for improving the company's IT systems and carrying out routine configuration and installation of IT solutions.
