The businesses production works based in Derbyshire is home to their semi-automated steel structures manufacturing plant.


Graduate Estimator Role Overview

The business is looking for a determined individual, who is eager to learn and develop within an ever-growing business by joining their Estimator team.

This opportunity will suit a candidate with an engineering or similar degree background. An interest in estimating would be great, any past exposure to estimating would be perfect, but training and support will be given.

On offer is a role where you can learn and develop your technical and estimating skills and can further your career within this sector.

Salary, Hours and Benefits

  • £25,000 - £26,000
  • 28 days annual holiday, increasing to 31 days after 5 years continuous service (inc. 8 statutory bank holidays)

Candidate Requirements

  • The Graduate Estimator will have an interest in estimating - any exposure to steel / fabrication would be advantageous.
  • A level of AutoCAD experience / ability to read drawings would be very useful. 
  • Customer focused with good communication skills.
  • Handling of quotes.
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve set budgets and goals.
  • Analytical Skills with a positive Focused Approach.
  • Strong Team Player.


Key Responsibilities 

  • The Graduate Estimator will establish customer requirements from CAD drawings and documents.
  • Preparing and submitting quotations in detail for the costs of items to be supplied.
  • Getting quotes from third party suppliers.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors, authorities etc.
  • Researching costs of materials, transport, Labour.
  • Preparing Contract bids.
  • Using a digital platform, contracts finder based on algorithm / Boolean search.
  • Maximising Opportunities.
