Duties of a Machine Build Supervisor, Workshop Supervisor, Maintenance Team Leader or Engineering Assembly Lead

  • As Special Purpose Machine Build Supervisor you will lead a multi-disciplined team of technicians to ensure each build is completed on time, within budget and that it’s handed over to the customer with complete satisfaction.  
  • As part of your role you will also be tasked with managing site services, driving 5S and ensuring all statutory regulations are adhered to.

Requirements of a Machine Build Supervisor, Workshop Supervisor, Maintenance Team Leader or Engineering Assembly Lead

  • Have a proven background in leading an engineering team within a special purpose machine build environment. Where you have had direct responsibility for plant performance, achieving targets, process development, mentoring staff, setting and monitoring KPI’s and managing time critical projects.
  • Qualified to a HNC standard Mechanically  
  • Have climbed the ranks of engineering from an apprentice level (ideally in toolmaking or mechanical fitting) into a position where you have supervised a team.

Probe Technical Recruitment are recruiting a very exciting opportunity for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a unique manufacturer based in Leicester. You will be part of a team of Maintenance Engineers delivering maintenance support and activities to maintain site compliance, improve the safety, quality and efficiency of all assets.

The benefits package for the Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer role include:

  • Salary depending one experience £40,000 - £48,000 
  • There are 40 hour weekly rotational shift patterns in place covering earlies, lates and nights covering both sites. (6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm / 10pm – 6am).

  • To ensure the completion of planned preventive maintenance schedules using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (Agility). 
  • To work with the Maintenance Team Leader to support the development of effective planned preventive maintenance schedules and to analyse the data produced to identify engineering improvement projects 
  • Plant Availability to agreed targets.
  • PPM’s Completion to agreed targets and standards
  • Delivery of strategic projects to original justification, budget and timeframes

About You

You will be a process led, diligent CNC Programmer / Engineer, with an eye for quality and detail as well as good background skills in workload management and communication.

Able to demonstrate experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a similar environment or industry. An ability to work and resolve issues within the production environment, quickly and accurately is a must.

Candidate Requirements

  • An experienced Machinist with CNC (VMC/Milling) programming ability.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of programming, setting and operating 3 axis CNC cutting machines.
  • Autodesk Fusion 360 programming software experience would be useful.
  • Working experience working within a tool room / plant and equipment maintenance environment.
  • Good knowledge and practical understanding of mechanical engineering applications in product assembly, jigs and fixtures, plant and equipment.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, machining and finish specifications. PC skills and experience of packages such as Excel and Standard Analyses: Nav, Creo, Windchill, DXF, Cad viewing packages. 
  • Be able to use and operate a wide range of manual machines such as millers, grinders, saws etc.
  • MIG/TIG welding experience in the workplace.
  • Experience of contributing to small group activities to drive improvement ideas. 


Role Overview

  • The CNC Programmer will programme, set and operate a variety of 3 axis CNC Machines for component and fixturing manufacture and assembly.
  • As part of a small in-house team, the CNC Programmer will play an equal part supporting production with modified or bespoke machined components made from a variety of materials from nylon through to stainless steel, as well as working on longer term continuous improvement projects that require machined content (i.e. tooling, fixturing etc).
  • Reporting into the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the CNC Programmer will work cross functionally with Production Leadership, Planning and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure production requirements for short turn-around components are met. 
  • You will work within the Tool room / Plant Maintenance function, in addition supporting the wider production operation in areas such as jigs and fixture repair, equipment maintenance and prototyping.

The Contracts Manager will profitably manage and develop the Contracts Department incorporating Installations, Maintenance & Electrical Design within the agreed Business Plan.


Contracts Manager Person Specification

  • Experience of Project Planning, People Management and Motivation, ensuring projects are delivered on time, safely and profitably.
  • A self-motivated Manager who is able to work well within a team of Managers and on their own initiative.
  • Excellent multi-tasker with the ability to manage their time to meet deadlines.
  • An excellent communicator, who is able to communicate effectively across all levels of the business. 
  • A holder of a health and safety qualification, ideally IOSH or NEBOSH.
  • Previous experience in the steel erection / steelwork industry would be an advantage.
  • Possess excellent IT skills and knowledgeable in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Be prepared to role your sleeves up and get your hands dirty.
  • Visit sites and clients in conjunction with the sales team and engage with clients to demonstrate a proficiency in company operations.


Contracts Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all activities within the Department including Project Management, QS and estimating ensuring they all deliver on time and in compliance with the customer orders.
  • Monitor and advise on overhead and profit management for projects.
  • Negotiation with Sub-Contractors.
  • To ensure adequate provisions are made to ensure the safe delivery of all activities, including (but not limited to) overseeing RAMS, training and the safe use of plant and equipment.

Duties the Maintenance engineer will undertake: 

  • Carry out Servicing and maintenance requirements throughout the plant. 
  • Respond to all breakdowns within the Plant 
  • Complete required Documentation for the engineering systems 
  • Monitor Stock levels on site – re-order as and when required 
  • Assist with Projects – Installation and commissioning on Plant. 
  • Carry out all required training on site.
