RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to develop and refine risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of the site's Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Implement and oversee SHE inspection and auditing programs, ensuring corrective actions are tracked and completed.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of Site Safety Meetings and other SHE communication initiatives.
  • Create, review, and implement robust health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to employees on their legal health and safety obligations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing thorough reports and maintaining the SHE Incident Log.
  • Facilitate SHE training and manage the employee competency matrix.
  • Maintain communication logs with competent authorities and ensure compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and COMAH regulations.
  • Review and enhance area fire risk assessments.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven health and safety experience in manufacturing, preferably within high-hazard industries (chemicals and COMAH exposure preferred).
  • Expertise in developing and reviewing risk assessments and implementing improvements.
  • Proficient in incident investigation, root cause analysis, auditing, and detailed report writing.
  • NEBOSH Certificate (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of current SHE legislation and regulations.
  • Familiarity with process safety, human factors, and behavioural safety (advantageous).

  • Create method statements and safe systems of work for required lifting operations.
