Lead Manufacturing Engineering Manager Role Purpose

The Lead Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Manufacturing Engineering Team activities and developing capabilities to meet the needs of the business. 

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, this role will play a key role in establishing a global network of efficient and high-quality manufacturing facilities that can leverage the advantages of being close to the market. 

You will be an excellent communicator who is driven and committed to quality, continuous improvement. With previous experience in a similar environment, you will ‘ideally’ have a strong understanding of electro-mechanical assembly and production processes, as well as a demonstrable background in lean manufacturing techniques.

This is a data driven role that enables robust change management and decision making.


Lead Manufacturing Engineering Manager Candidate Requirements (but not limited to)

  • Natural leader and change manager.
  • Significant relevant experience (ideally 5+ years leading a Manufacturing Engineering / Operations Excellence team).
  • Performance Management: Implement and oversee performance management systems to ensure team members meet their goals and objectives, providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
  • Intimate knowledge and experience of implementing lean methodology, ideally formal lean training e.g. Lean six Sigma.
  • Demonstrable understanding and proven delivery of key process development tools (i.e. D+PFMEA, Control Plans, SOPS).
  • Must be an excellent collaborator working closely with a peer group.
  • Capable of driving a team to complete projects on time and in full, managing budget and resource challenges and opportunities.
  • Be an excellent communicator, capable of engaging with individuals one-on-one. Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner and share information/new ideas with team members.
  • Ability to dive deep into processes, analyse and dissect data and drive results in a structured and methodical way through the team. “Data driven decision making”.
  • Ability to - take on any task thrown your way, and hunger to continuously learn and develop: To meet tight deadlines and balance multiple, competing priorities.


Lead Manufacturing Engineering Manager Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Manage a diverse Manufacturing Engineering team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment in an agile and dynamic way, tackling unexpected & emerging issues as they arise.
  • Analyse current working methods, drive key KPI’s (SQDCP) and implement improvements to better the efficiency and quality of company processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and support improvement projects, through effective change management. From minor product and process changes, through to Capex justification and supporting of operations transformational projects.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Instil a continuous improvement mindset, developing and mentoring team members in key tools and techniques to drive CI. Foster robustness and stability within Manufacturing Engineering aligned with future business growth plans and production demands.
  • As part of the manufacturing leadership team, develop and input into appropriate problem-solving tools and preventative actions, techniques and measures.
  • Review current processes and ways of working, gathering feedback and data from all internal stakeholders.
  • Work cross functionally to develop the production layout plans, value streams layout, organization and standardization plans to support growth ambitions.
  • Change management: Able to drive change as business evolves, supporting your team and the wider production team, emphasizing a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement, is what supports the growth ambitions
  • Global Mindset: Work with global teams to utilize best practice and initiatives to support global standardization.
  • Create and deliver briefings, workshops, and training material relevant to manufacturing and production operations
  • Cost Management: Support the reduction in overall manufacturing costs through best practice standardization and operational development.

Probe Technical are looking to recruit a full time and permanent Production Supervisor to join a market leading Manufacturing facility. We are looking for someone with previous supervisory responsibility. In the past working within a team of Production Operatives and Line Operatives guaranteeing that production activities are completed accurately, and to the required standards of quality, and health and safety. This is an excellent time to join due to business growth.   

You must be flexible to work 12-hour shifts, covering days and nights.
