MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Job Description

A fantastic steel firm in the heart of the black country have tasked me with finding a mechanically bias maintenance engineer. My client is well-established and the UK’s largest in their sector. 

My client is looking for a maintenance engineer to be part of a two-man team on a 3-shift rota. You will be tasked with preventative and reactive maintenance work on all plant and equipment. This role will suit someone with a heavy engineering background. 


Maintenance Engineer Benefits:

Maintenance Engineer Duties: 

  • X3-shift rota (days, afternoons, nights). 
  • Installation work. 
  • Hydraulic system work. 
  • Pneumatic system work. 
  • General welding and fabrication. 
  • Keep maintenance logs. 
  • Planned and reactive maintenance. 

Maintenance Engineer Requirements: 

  • Engineering apprenticeship. 
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics. 
  • Steel / Heavy engineering experience. 
  • Welding abilities. 
  • Bench fitting. 
  • Basic electrical knowledge would be advantageous. 
  • Local.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) by identifying gaps, assessing opportunities for improvement, and coordinating corrective action planning and execution.
  • Lead the accreditation process for BS EN 9001, AS9100, and ISO 14001 standards, ensuring that all required documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Conduct internal audits to evaluate compliance and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Ensure full legal compliance with regulatory requirements relevant to operational facilities.
  • Actively promote adherence to Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) policies, fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Oversee compliance processes and maintain effective reporting systems.
  • Serve as the primary contact for quality and environmental guidance, offering expert support to the business and liaising with regulatory and accreditation bodies as needed.
  • Provide training to new hires and current employees on all aspects of the Quality Management System.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant Quality Control experience and / OR Environmental exposure and Health and Safety
  • Ideally, you will have gained your experience from with a manufacturing environment
  • A WAMITAB qualification is desirable, but not essential.
  • Good knowledge of EN 9001, AS9100 and or ISO14001
  • Experience of compliance
