MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Job Description

New and exciting opportunity to join a global manufacturing organisation based in the Greater Manchester Area.  This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join an already established maintenance team. 

The Maintenance Engineers position is commutable from the following locations: Warrington / Skelmersdale / Bolton / Wigan 

Shift the maintenance engineer will be required to work Shift Pattern 4 on / 4 off - 2 x 12 hr days & 2 x 12hr nights, 5 * 18-day breaks fixed

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for and hold the following experience:  

  • Maintain and install all mechanical plant & machinery in line with company requirements.
  • React quickly, diagnose & repair any mechanical related problems on the plant or equipment.
  • Carry out our planned preventative maintenance schedule on the full range of equipment within the site .
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good, safe working & clean condition.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork associated with the task being performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Carry out daily inspections as requested related to safety, air, steam and water leaks and complete repairs as necessary.
  • Report any problems regarding equipment and machinery immediately to the Engineering Team Leader.
  • Ensure that you are aware of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and that you always adhere to them.
  • Complete Maintenance work orders, use of a CMMS system, Agility or similar
  • Experience with pneumatic & hydraulic equipment & systems
  • Knowledge of high-pressure steam boilers and systems
  • Welding skills such as MMA, TIG, MIG
  • General workshop skills, tools, lathe, milling etc.
  • Able to read schematic drawings
  • Some multi skilling would be advantageous
  • Ideally you will be Apprentice trained holding a HNC / City & guilds Level 3 in Mechanical engineering.

Manufacturing Design Engineer Candidate Requirements

  • Creo experience would be ideal, but any 3D design proficiency would be considered. 
  • MathCAD experience is desirable. Besides this, any proven experience of calculations would be useful.
  • Demonstrable experience from a Manufacturing or Machining environment. 
  • Knowledge of different materials, manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
  • A problem solver, with previous experience dealing directly with customers, preparing technical specifications and presenting proposals.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at any one time.
  • Able to oversee and manage suppliers as required within a project’s development.

Manufacturing Design Engineer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • The Manufacturing Design Engineer will process new enquiries for the design department, ensuring all necessary follow-up action has been adhered to such as enquiry processing, delivery of quotation/design proposal for new contract research & consultancy.
  • Develop close working relationships with clients and ensuring client liaison is continually adhered to.
  • Undertake design and engineering analysis and support activity including FEA (dynamic, non-linear) on design projects within the department and as a dedicated service.
  • Development and detailing of product design and engineering support from concept through to detailed design and manufacturing implementation, support as required across a broad spectrum of manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Undertake project management as directed by the Design Director. All project management activity to comply with industry guidelines and ensure good client liaison, budget management and the completion of project deliverables to agreed timescales.
  • To perform stress and strain calculations to recognised formulae and clearly layout workings to allow colleagues to interpret and validate the design.
